One Kick by Chelsea Cain
‘Kick’ Lannigan was kidnapped when she was six years old and used in child pornography movies until she was rescued at age 11. Now 21, she is caught up in a missing-child case that may just break her.
As an adult, Kick has done everything she can to teach herself survival skills so that she can protect herself against anything. When she is approached by a former weapons dealer, John Bishop, he convinces her to join him in the search for the missing children. Unable to turn down the opportunity to help other kids who may be suffering the same abuse that she did as a child, Kick joins Bishop on his hunt for the monster behind it all.
This is the first book in a new thriller series by Cain and it is also being developed into a TV series. This book was very fast-paced and I couldn’t put it down. The ending was satisfactory, but also enough of a cliffhanger that I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.
