The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris by Jenny Colgan
I’ve inherited beautiful street scenes from my parents who spent a brief weekend in Paris in the late 60s, so I’ve always been intrigued by the charm of Europe. When I found The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris, the intrigue was sparked again.
Anna Trent is working at a chocolate factory in England when she is injured in a bizarre accident and loses two toes. While she is in the hospital recuperating, she reconnects with her high school French teacher, Claire, who is undergoing Chemotherapy. After Anna recovers, she’s in a depression over her loss. Claire arranges a job for Anna working in Paris, under a famous chocolatier, whom Claire had a brief romance with in her youth.
Alternating between Anna’s current adventure in Paris and Claire’s adventure while in high school, you are treated to a whirlwind insider’s look at Paris. You can taste the gourmet chocolate, feel the warm sun on your face, and enjoy the beautiful streets through the pages of this novel.
While this tale starts out slow, really laying the groundwork, soon you’ll be swept away into two love stories and a story of healing on so many levels.
This is a great addition to any women’s fiction collection.
