Snowflakes Fall by Patricia MacLachlan & Steven Kellogg
Longtime friends Patricia MacLachlan and Steven Kellogg collaborated on this inspiring picture book honoring children and families everywhere, but most importantly those of Newtown, Connecticut.
The book uses the cycle of life to perfectly capture nature’s beauty, while simultaneously representing the emotions of life as part joy and part sorrow. The artwork throughout the book moves from the beautiful color of falling autumn leaves to snow-covered ground giving way to spring.
I’m a fan of Patricia MacLachlan, her book True Gift is one of my all-time favorite books to give as a gift. I was not familiar with Steven Kellogg; however his lovely artwork portrays the silent still moments, along with the enthusiasm of children and dogs, in a very special way.
Together they have created a book filled with hope, depicting all the best things about being part of a community no matter what season of life we find ourselves in.
